Rob’s work on brown carbon collected from an aged boreal biomass burning plume has been published in Geophysical Research Letters . We collected samples of the plume from a fire burning in northern Quebec and Labrador as it came over St. John’s in summer of 2013 (satellite photo). Rob used size-exclusion chromatography coupled to UV-vis […]
Bryan Place joined the group recently from the University of Toronto. He will be working jointly with Cora and Trevor looking at deposition of reactive nitrogen species across the NL-BELT sites. Welcome!
Rob and Cora travelled to sunny Colorado to attend the spring meeting of the American Chemical Society. Rob gave a presentation about his work looking at the absorbing species in biomass burning aerosols, while Cora presented John’s method development work for detecting perfluorinated acids in particles.
John travelled to the west coast of Newfoundland and up into Labrador to collect samples and set up sampling equipment before the first snows of the season. A character building experience for sure!
