Daniel and Cora were at Environment and Climate Change Canada in Burlington, ON last week to section ice cores along with ECCC colleagues. The ice cores were collected from Ellesmere Island in the Canadian High Arctic in May 2017 and will be used to better understand the trends and long-range transport of contaminants. They were joined by York University Science Communicator in Residence, Molly Segal, who documented the process. Stay tuned for results!
Cora in Boulder at Chemistry of Indoor Environments meeting
Cora was in lovely Boulder, CO last week for the first meeting of the Chemistry of Indoor Environments program. She presented the group’s research on reactive chlorine indoors, including Kathryn’s HCl measurements.

Cora at Carnegie Mellon University
Cora visited Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh this week to give a seminar in the Department of Chemistry, as well as visited with colleagues in the Department of Chemistry and Center for Atmospheric Particle Studies. She spoke about long-range transport of perfluoroalkyl substances.
Cora at ACS Meeting
Cora was at the ACS meeting last week in Boston. She presented in the Royal Society of Chemistry's Environmental Sciences Early Career Researcher Symposium, where she showed research from Heidi and Joseph.
Bryan's paper published!
Former group member Bryan Place had the second paper from his MSc published recently! Bryan showed the applicability of passive sampling of nitric acid to remote boreal forest locations. This work was done in collaboration with his co-supervisor Trevor VandenBoer, as well as the research group of Sue Ziegler and collaborators at the Canadian Forestry Service. The paper is published in Atmospheric Environment. Congratulations!
Cora in Philadelphia at Indoor Air
Cora was in historic (hot, and humid) Philadelphia last week at the 2018 Indoor Air meeting. She presented work from Kathryn and Teles looking at reactive chlorine chemistry indoors. Collaborators Tara Kahan and Shan Zhao presented results from studies of indoor oxidants.
